Olea europaea Paragon is a highly productive mid season olive variety known for strong yields of fruit suitable for both table use and oil extraction. With dark glossy leaves and silver undersides, it delivers classic Mediterranean appeal and adapts well to Australian conditions. It thrives in warm, dry climates with well drained soil and performs strongly as a feature tree, hedge, espalier or orchard planting.

Growing & Care Guide

Soil: Prefers well drained sandy or loam soils. Dislikes waterlogging.
Light: Full sun is essential for strong growth and fruiting.
Watering: Low water needs once established. Moderate watering during establishment.
Fertiliser: Apply slow release fertiliser annually for best performance.
Maintenance: Responds well to shaping for hedges, espaliers and structural forms.
Flowering: In late spring, Paragon produces small creamy white olive flowers. Fruit production is generally minimal, as this cultivar is primarily grown for ornamental and structural landscape use.

Landscaping Ideas

Ideal for productive Mediterranean landscapes, feature planting, structural hedging and espaliers. Paragon olive is used by landscapers primarily as a structural tree because of its narrow upright form. It works best where you need height without width.

Expert Tip

Plant Paragon 1.5-2.5 metres apart when creating a screen. Its naturally upright habit means very little pruning is required to maintain a clean, structured look.
