Olea europaea, the iconic Mediterranean olive tree, is prized for its silver green foliage, architectural form and exceptional resilience. Thriving in full sun and well drained soils, it performs reliably in Melbourne's dry summers, coastal conditions and low water landscapes. With a mature size of 4-10m (or smaller with pruning), it is ideal as a feature tree, hedge, espalier or potted specimen. Long lived, hardy and low-maintenance, it remains one of the most versatile and enduring trees for structured, modern or traditional gardens.
