Description

Correa reflexa backhousiana 'Marians Marvel' is one of the most generous and long-flowering native shrubs available for Australian gardens. Unlike most flowering plants that deliver a single seasonal display, 'Marians Marvel' produces its beautiful tubular green and pink bell-shaped flowers for most of the year, providing an almost continuous source of colour and nectar that keeps the garden interesting and the birds returning across every season.

Growing to approximately 1.3m tall and spreading to 2 to 3m wide, it is a naturally spreading, shrub-like plant with attractive dark green evergreen foliage that forms a dense, informal mound over time. The flower colour combination of soft green and pink is distinctive and elegant, complementing the foliage in a way that is quietly beautiful rather than loud, making it a versatile plant that works well in naturalistic, coastal, and low water garden designs without dominating the surrounding planting.

Highly drought, frost, and wind tolerant once established, 'Marians Marvel' adapts to a wide range of soil types and performs in full sun through to semi shade. A low phosphorus slow-release fertiliser and mulch around the base is all it needs to thrive. Generally trouble free and genuinely low maintenance, it is one of the best spreading native shrubs available for bird-attracting, low water, and coastal garden plantings across southern Australia.
