Description

Magnolia grandiflora Sweet N Neat is a compact, dense evergreen tree that brings the grandeur of the classic Southern Magnolia into smaller Australian gardens. Where the standard Magnolia grandiflora can reach 15 metres or more, Sweet N Neat tops out at just 2–4 metres, making it one of the most practical compact Magnolia varieties available for Melbourne homes and suburban gardens across Australia.

Its glossy dark green leaves with a distinctive rusty, fuzzy brown underside provide striking two-tone foliage interest year-round. In summer and autumn, large creamy-white flowers emerge with a strong, beautiful fragrance that makes it equally at home in a fragrant garden, formal border, or as a standalone feature tree. Originating from North America and belonging to the Magnoliaceae family, Sweet N Neat is non-native but performs reliably in Australian conditions, with high frost and wind tolerance that sets it apart from many ornamental trees in its class.
