Description

Banksia ericifolia is a vigorous, highly adaptable Australian native shrub suited to a wide range of Melbourne conditions, including front line coastal areas. It produces small dark green needle like leaves and striking cylindrical flower spikes up to 20 cm long from summer through winter, ranging from pale yellow to orange brown with orange or yellow styles. Its spreading habit, resilience, and ornamental flower spikes make it an excellent choice for habitat gardens, screens, low water landscapes, and coastal plantings.

Key Features:

  • Bright cylindrical flower spikes from summer to late winter.
  • Highly drought tolerant; ideal for low water gardens.
  • Excellent habitat plant attracting birds and pollinators.
  • Handles coastal wind, sandy soils, and exposed sites.
  • Fast growing and low maintenance.
  • Works well as a screening shrub or large feature.
