Description

Correa alba 'Compacta' is one of the most reliable and versatile low-growing native shrubs available for Australian gardens. A compact form of the classic White Correa, it produces a generous display of white flowers from late autumn through winter at exactly the time when most other plants have little to offer, providing a welcome burst of clean, bright colour during the cooler months. The soft grey-green foliage is attractive year-round and creates a gentle, natural texture that works beautifully in native, coastal, and low water garden designs.

Growing to just 15 to 30cm in height with a spreading habit up to 2m wide, 'Compacta' is an outstanding groundcover and rockery plant that fills space efficiently while remaining low and tidy. It adapts to a wide range of well-drained soil types, performs in full sun through to semi shade, and tolerates coastal conditions, short dry periods, and light frost once established. Its bird-attracting qualities add further ecological value, making it a genuinely rewarding plant for habitat and native garden designs.

Low phosphorus slow-release fertiliser, mulch around the base, and occasional moisture during dry periods is all 'Compacta' needs to thrive. Generally trouble free and highly adaptable, it is one of the best compact native groundcovers available for borders, verges, rockeries, and mass planting in low water and coastal garden situations across southern Australia.
