Description

Hedera canariensis, commonly known as Canary Island Ivy, is a vigorous evergreen climber with large deep green leaves on dark red stalks. It spreads quickly, making it ideal for covering brick walls, fences, embankments and large shady areas. As a groundcover, it forms a dense mat up to 7 m wide, suppressing weeds and stabilising soil on slopes. It also performs well in pots for topiary and structured shapes. With low maintenance needs and year-round foliage, it is a reliable choice for both ornamental and functional landscape applications.

Key Features:

  • Large glossy, triangular leaves on red stems for a lush appearance.
  • Excellent coverage for fences, walls, and slopes.
  • Versatile as a groundcover, climber, or topiary plant.
  • Low maintenance and drought-tolerant once established.
  • Ideal for shaded or semi-shaded positions.
  • Evergreen foliage for year-round visual interest.
