Burgundy Sunset is a dramatic, dark foliaged Leucadendron that delivers year round colour and structure. Its burgundy black leaves create a striking contrast in the landscape, adding depth and richness to mixed borders or modern gardens. Flowering in autumn and winter, it provides valuable seasonal interest when many plants are dormant. Highly suited to Melbourne’s dry summers, it thrives in well drained soil and performs reliably in both inland and coastal conditions

- Soil: Thrives in sandy or loam soils with very good drainage, avoid heavy clay unless improved.
- Light: Full sun required for strongest foliage colour.
- Watering: Keep moist during establishment, minimal watering needed afterwards.
- Fertiliser: Use only low phosphorus native fertiliser.
- Maintenance: Light prune after flowering to shape and encourage fresh burgundy growth.
- Flowering: Sunset burgundy leucadendrons don’t produce a typical “petal flower” like roses. Instead, the flower is a cone like centre surrounded by colourful bract.
