Achillea clypeolata is a refined and highly ornamental Yarrow species from Europe, prized for its exceptional silver-grey foliage that provides year-round textural interest even when the plant is not in flower. • Maintenance: Low. Deadhead spent flower stems by cutting back to the base to encourage a second flush of flowering through Summer. After flowering, cut the plant back by one third to maintain a compact shape and encourage fresh new growth. Divide clumps every two to three years in Autumn or early Spring to maintain vigour and prevent the centre from dying out. Mulch well year-round.
• Flowering: Flowers in Summer, typically December to February in Melbourne. Upright stems rise 40 to 60cm above the silver foliage mound and are topped with flat, rounded clusters of bright golden-yellow flowers that last for several weeks on the plant.
